| About us | What does your group do? WATIF is a passionate and dedicated community development trust focused on improving the quality of life for residents in our area. Development trusts are member organisations that combine community led action with an enterprising approach, with an aim to bring about social, economic and environmental renewal creating wealth in communities and keeping it there. At WATIF we deliver projects that tackle the issues of greatest concern to our community such as non-existent public transport, poor broadband, community activities and lack of services.At WATIF we are committed to delivering asset-based community development for community resilience and our strategic objectives are to build community capacity and achieve more sustainable economic, environmental and social development through our investments and project delivery. Our drivers are: • Achieving our vision ‘for a beautiful and vibrant place with a great quality of life for all’ • The need to invest our community benefit funds to build community capacity • To ensure that we protect and enhance our community assets • The need to provide long term future financial sustainability for our community We were kindly offered the opportunity to purchase Loanhead Farm off market in 2021. Ideally located within our geographical boundary, the community ownership of Loanhead Farm provides a unique phased development opportunity for a multi- use community enterprise. Loanhead Farm can help us respond to our community’s needs by providing land and buildings where we can develop activities and services to address our communities’ unmet needs and persistent challenges and help us to achieve our vision. |
| Our Wish | With the redevelopment of the Cowbyre in particular we are looking for the donation of kitchen fixtures, fittings and equipment for our new commercial kitchen. We are also looking for any other items for our new Cowbyre including seating, commercial cleaning equipment, lighting, tables etc. We are hoping to complete the development next year with an opening in summer 2025. we are aware that there are a number of items on our wish list are available in McClymont House that has sadly now closed. We are also looking for 2 disabled ramps for our community workshop and our community cabin, both based at Loanhead Farm. |
