Consultation summary and background | South Lanarkshire Council is working on the third edition of its Gaelic Language Plan, following the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005. This plan continues the efforts started in 2013 to raise awareness of Gaelic among our employees and the community. It outlines how we will achieve the goals set in the National Gaelic Language Plan 2023 – 2029. We recognise that Gaelic is a key part of Scotland’s heritage and identity. We also know it's challenging to increase the use and visibility of Gaelic in our daily lives. Therefore, our new plan for 2025 – 2030 focuses on three main areas: • Increasing the use of Gaelic • Increasing the learning of Gaelic • Promoting a positive image of Gaelic |
