Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP)
Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP) | South Lanarkshire Council
Status | Current |
Consultation summary and background | The Scottish Government have been actively using the LEAP process as a collaborative, as opposed to a consultative mechanism. In doing so, it is ensuring the lived and living experience is directly influencing and shaping the progress of policy and legislation at a national level. |
Why are we consulting? | The LEAP consultation is an opportunity to ask users, carers and other stakeholders about their views on the creation of an innovative 'tier' of collaboration between the Council as a provider of service, and those it serves. Whereas previous structures have been consultative, the Lived Experience Advisory Panel could become an integral part of the Councils inclusive vision, ensuring 'bottom-up' planning and prioritising, instead of established 'top-down' processes. The LEAP would, in essence translate the national developments into local best practice, ensuring south Lanarkshire is at the forefront of user and carer participation in a sustainable and democratic way. |
Who are we consulting | Citizen's Panel, Men, Parents, Carers, Guardians, People with disabilities, Service users, Stakeholders and Women |
How will findings be used? | Findings will be used to inform, and validate the planning of an initial 'test of change' in establishing a representative LEAP drawn from South :Lanarkshire's Learning Disabled, Autistic and Neurodivergent (LDAN) community. |
