About us | Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre supports individuals in the Clydesdale Area, Rutherglen/Cambuslang Area, East Kilbride/Strathaven and Blantyre/Hamilton of South Lanarkshire. Established 20 years ago, the Lanarkshire Rape and Crisis Centre provides practical and emotional support to survivors of sexual violence from age 12 and older. We have different teams which support a range of services. Our support team provides one-to-one support therapy. The advocacy team supports the criminal justice process by the means of emotional assistance for an average of three years. Lastly our prevention team delivers specialist training in schools and colleges on topics such as consent and gender stereotypes. The centre has noticed an increase in demand and more support over and above our basic services. Therefore, we now provide the essentials for every service user within our wellbeing bags. These bags consist of shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and other essential body care products. |
Our Wish | Financial Donations will go towards essential items for the service, a few examples of these would be: Bus Tokens- £200- These ensure individuals can access our services based in Hamilton without a financial burden being placed on them. This is particularly important given the current needs of many of our service users. Personal Alarms- £4 per alarm- With over 500 new service users coming through our centre a year, as a minimum, personal alarms are important to help those we support feel safe. As these are no longer provided by other organisations, it has become a personal financial struggle for our centre to ensure we have enough available. All other financial donations are most welcome and much need to continue supporting our staff team to provide the best support we can- This could also include but is not limited too, running group sessions, art therapy, journals and other essentials for mental health and well being |
