About usChildcare in the Community is a well-established childcare service provider, run by a Voluntary Management Committee comprising of parents, carers, members of the local community. We provide flexible mobile crèche, nursery care three out of school care services for children from birth to 16 years of age, in various venues and outreach facilities throughout the area. Our services are at the heart of the support for this community providing a range of childcare to the most vulnerable children. Based in the Whitehill Neighbourhood Centre we are within walking distance of the residents we want to support. Our full day care centre is for children 0-5 years and three out of school care services and holiday club is for children from 5 to 16 years. Our mobile crèche services provide care across both South and North Lanarkshire caring for the most vulnerable children within these communities. We work closely with parents/carers to encourage the development and wellbeing of all our children, providing a safe, secure environment for children to participate in new and exciting experiences allowing their parents/carers to return to work attend training courses or return to full time or part time education. Our WishIn 2022 Childcare in the Community received funding from the Climate Resilience Fund to support our project to extend the nursery garden and improve drainage in the area. The project was completed in January this year and has given the children opportunities to be involved growing plants trees with extra outdoor space for them to have their own garden with the opportunity for more outdoor learning based on healthy eating and wellbeing and giving families and children an opportunity to get involved in learning through nature. We are asking Make a Wish for £1,300 to help towards the cost of a shelter for our new garden area to give the children some much needed shade from the elements while still being able to have the benefits of being outdoors.
