About usLarkhall Men’s Shed movement is actively targeting loneliness and isolation in older men by providing an active social space where predominantly older men can meet each week. Men’s Shed across Scotland have been identified as a great way of enabling older men to lead healthier, happier and more connected lives utilising their existing DIY, woodwork and gardening skill and often learning new skills. Although the Sheds are mainly targeted at older men they are open to any men over 18. We are currently working in partnership with a local football club Larkhall Thistle to develop permanent premises to increase the days and times we can open which will in turn increase our membership and what we can offer to the local community. Men’s Sheds are successful because they are member led grassroots organisations and following the same model Larkhall Shed will develop the Shed that works best for the members involved. Our Shed currently has one portable container and we are working to purchase a second one to develop a woodworking workshop to be our permanent premises for many years to come. In Larkhall there is a great existing community network that we are working in partnership with. Our Shed has developed a Facebook group for members and the local community are also encouraged to join to be kept up to date on our Shed journey
Our WishWe currently require 50-60 garden slabs to level a site to place under our two portable containers that will become our permanent Men's Shed. The slabs will not be visible and do not need to be new. No deadline, we require slabs to Raploch pitches site in Larkhall as soon as possible.
