Rent Setting Questionnaire 2024-25

Rent Setting Questionnaire 2024-25 | South Lanarkshire Council
StatusCurrent
Consultation summary and backgroundEvery year South Lanarkshire Council, along with tenants, reviews its’ budgets to inform new rent levels from April. A key part of this process is the annual programme of consultation with tenants on setting rents. The Council has a well-established engagement programme for consultation on proposed annual rent increases. Part of our rent setting process is to consider current and future business and investment plans and the impact on the Housing Revenue Account. The consideration of rent affordability is also a key feature of the process we undertake with tenant representatives.
Why are we consulting?South Lanarkshire Council continues to be one of the most affordable landlords in Scotland. We are committed to supporting tenants in financial difficulties and to ensuring rents remain affordable and this has been a key focus for us as we plan ahead into 2024-25 and beyond. We also want to ensure that tenants and other customers continue to receive high quality, efficient and responsive housing services. In order that we can continue to deliver high quality housing services, invest in existing council homes as well as build new council homes, the new rent level proposed is a xx% rent increase in 2024-25. Based on the average rent, this increase equates to £xx per week.

How will findings be used?: A key area for discussions with tenants this year will be the proposed rent increase and investment priorities and we are keen to hear your views on this. Views from tenants on these matters will help to inform how we deliver and direct housing services in the future.
