| About us | Drum EK is a community drumming group for adults who feel that they suffer from mental health and wellbeing issues. Based in East Kilbride, with the purpose of helping to reduce social isolation and loneliness, the group is self-governing and meets weekly for 2 hours of music, percussion & singing. Our fun sessions encourage connection, support and the exploration of member’s creativity in a safe, nurturing environment.

| Our Wish | We would like to extend our services and offer the community in general, a monthly Sunday afternoon Family Magickal Stories and Music Event to bring in families and wider community. This would greatly enhance the musical, social and friendship development of our members and wider community, as well as increase our visibility and flexibility to the community. Sharing storytelling and music can help people develop their own sense of identity and self-awareness and is beneficial for enhancing intergenerational and intercultural understanding and communication. They boost listening skills and foster imagination. Empathy and memory retention is increased and thus is good for onset of dementia. As positive emotions are increased, we can transform our story. We require £1260: monies for Hall hire (£40 x 9 month = £360) and Facilitator fee (£100 x 9 = £900). We would like to start as soon as possible. |
