About usSense Scotland is a Scottish charity and specialised social care provider supporting people with communication support needs associated with complex and sensory disabilities and their families, where individual needs and choices come first. We provide a range of services including family advisory; early years support for children aged up to eight and their families; community living, day support for children and adults; arts programme and short breaks. We also provide healthy living support including a range of indoor and outdoor physical activities; welfare rights support; transition support; ASDAN awards and other activities and programmes to develop skills in learning, employment and life. We support young people and adults in South Lanarkshire and surrounding areas in Blantyre Short Breaks which provides short breaks and respite care for 80 people with up to 7 visitors at a time. It provides a broad selection of opportunities to socialise, be active, try new things, develop skills, get outdoors, relax and have fun all tailored to each individual’s preferences, interests and needs. It also gives families and carers much-needed breathing space, most of the time just to catch up on their sleep. The breaks are vital to the health and wellbeing of families and act as a home from home, sometimes over many years.
Our Wish"We would like to transform a rarely used quiet lounge into a youth space for the increasing numbers of younger adults using the service where they could spend time with friends or have some quiet time alone. We are looking for a total financial donation of £4970, however the amount has been broken down into more affordable amounts below. We would appreciate any amount of financial support.

The space would involve redecorating with fresh paint and new curtains/blinds (£2270).

We would like to replace the old carpet tiles with non-slip wooden flooring which would not only improve appearance but would be wipe clean for convenience and improved hygiene control (£1250).

We would like to replace old, tired furniture with new chairs and tables chosen for comfort, accessibility and to contribute along with the redecoration to the overall youth design (£650).

We require fresh storage (£300) and new entertainment equipment (£500).
