| About us | Larkhall & District Volunteer Group (LDVG) are a charity whose aim is to ‘promote the wellbeing of the community in South Lanarkshire’. This is achieved by reducing physical and social isolation, increasing health and wellbeing and volunteering opportunities and supporting local social enterprises. Larkhall & District Volunteer Group offer a volunteer driven community car service. This service provides free transport for patients to attend their non-emergency NHS appointments. These patients are referred to us by the local GP surgeries. Our original funding has ended and now we are struggling to obtain further financial support. Unless we obtain funding, we may have to charge a fee to patients to use this service. It is the most vulnerable people in our community that we are supporting. |
| Our Wish | We would very much appreciate a financial donation. During the pandemic we managed to lease an electric car which was used by volunteers to support this service. The sustainable electric car has allowed the recruitment of additional volunteers who don’t want to (or can’t) use their own car. The lease is due to end on the 27th of June 2023 but with no financial support in place, we may have to end this vital service. However, the electric hire company have kindly offered to extend our lease from 24 to 29 months at a low cost of £231.74 per month. We would very much appreciate financial donations or sponsorships to cover this overhead so we can continue to operate this vital community service. |
