| About us | We are a community council for the area of Meikle Earnock in Hamilton. As a community council we tackle priorities within our community. For example, we have been operating a successful warm bank within our local bowling club. Volunteering with local support services to campaign for increased community policing in our area. Attempting to secure funding for a youth group that supports the mental wellbeing of children and combats the increasing anti-social behaviour that effects our elderly population. Our community is amongst the most disadvantaged in Lanarkshire and we feel our focus should primarily be on helping people to get through what continues to be an extremely difficult time. As a Community Council we are asked to consult on issues of planning, road safety, community policing with the aim of feeding back public opinion on the issues that affect their daily quality of life. We struggle to communicate this solely through a Facebook page. We have tried leafleting; however, it is very expensive and unsustainable for the environment. |
| Our Wish | We would greatly appreciate a financial donation of £2000. The Meikle Earnock Community Council require a website to create an online presence that is accessible and easily used by all members of our community. It would allow us to facilitate community engagement on a larger scale providing good quality, community led consultation when required. The website would make a good, clear representation of the community council for prospective funding opportunities. It would provide the opportunity to communicate important information about the local area to a wider demographic, specifically where and how to access services and to make sure as many people as possible know how to contact the community council or their local councillors if they need assistance. |
