About usBiggar and District Men’s Shed is based in the Clydesdale area of South Lanarkshire. We are open to anyone 18 years of age and over. We focus on providing well-equipped workshops including carpentry, wood carving, lathe work and small electronics class. We also have classes such as, clock repair, learning CAD design, to produce small items on a 3D printer, art classes. We are also currently developing a community allotment.

These activities create opportunities for members to meet in a warm and welcoming environment to establish social connections and improve health and wellbeing, or simply socialise with a tea or coffee. Factors caused by post covid such as higher unemployment and home working will place further demand on the Men’s Shed as members will seek social interaction.

We currently have a 10-year lease on a former Primary School. Originally this was a redundant building which was unused for a considerable period. Therefore, the building was rundown, damp and cold. We have installed double glazing and disabled access.
Our WishWe are seeking a financial donation towards the estimated cost of £9750, to make modifications to the redundant children's toilets by installing a kitchen area and an accessible toilet. This will benefit the Men’s Shed premises, as we move forward with our desire to create a more usable community space and generate more membership and community benefit.
