| About us | What does your group do? The Machan Trust is a long standing and highly respected local charity based in the community of Larkhall. Our particular focus is on communities that face significant challenges including Hareleeshill, Strutherhill, Ashgill and Netherburn, however we are open to all members of the community. Our ethos is to be inclusive, therefore removing stigma and working for the whole community including those from ethnic minorities and the LGBTQI+ community. Our services include breakfast, lunch, after school and family groups, where participants take part in learning through fun and interactive activities. Our activities aim to raise aspirations, teach and build skills and promote community connection and resilience, amongst all our members. | Our Wish | Our wish is to get a financial donation to provide food and support during our ongoing activities and for local families. Due to the cost of living crisis many of our families have struggled, so last year we offered meals and snacks to all who participated in our activities. Also, we distributed gift cards to allow families the dignity to purchase their own food. These two initiatives cost £7.2k and £6k respectively and due to the deepening financial crisis, we would like to carry on this essential work for those most affected. Any financial donation towards these costs would be greatly appreciated. |
