Cycle route - East Kilbride to Hamilton

Cycle route - East Kilbride to Hamilton | South Lanarkshire Council
IdeaNeed a safe cycle route from East Kilbride to Hamilton. The current route is via Stoneymeadow Road, which is not safe for cyclists. It would need lines to segregate a cycle lane, slower speed limit and more signage. Once connected with Blantyre the safe cycling options would be endless.
ResponseActive Travel Studies (ATSs) have been completed for both Hamilton and East Kilbride. These indicate proposed active travel corridors for each settlement as well as linking them together. At this time, priorities in the ATSs are being taken forward and resources are concentrating on a number of locations: EK Town Centre / Hamilton “Black Path” and connections in and around the Town Centre in Hamilton.
Notwithstanding this, consideration has been given to a route connecting both towns via Maxwellton to the University of the West of Scotland areas.
