Play area equipment - Thankerton

Play area equipment - Thankerton | South Lanarkshire Council
IdeaWith regard to interactive outdoor play equipment in Thankerton, the lack of activities for children to engage with the outdoors is poor. Children need encouragement to play outdoors, away from screens. In our village there is nothing but an old flooded play park with 4 items of old play equipment. I would love to see a modern playground with gym equipment for teens and adults to bring life back to an open space.
ResponseThe council currently manages and maintains 233 fixed play areas located throughout South Lanarkshire. Budgets have been focused on ensuring safety rather than improvements to the fixed play areas. While funds have been awarded to all Scottish local authorities to use on fixed play areas, it is a limited sum and this funding will only be used on existing fixed play areas.

Local community groups that are interested in working in partnership with the council to replace previous play areas should email ffgs@southlanarkshire.gov.uk to received details about the process.
