Springwell neighbourhood hall

Springwell neighbourhood hall | South Lanarkshire Council
IdeaI stay near the Springwell neighbourhood hall. This hall has been sitting empty for ages. After it got used as a covid test centre it has been just sitting with kids vandalising it. In my opinion it should be rented out and used, as it’s a great place. Someone is always looking for halls for celebrating and half of the time is near impossible to rent one as it is fully booked.
ResponseFor many years this hall was a Community Managed Hall. The local community had formed a Management Committee who were responsible for the day-to-day management and bookings. Unfortunately, just prior to Covid, the Management Committee advised that they were unable to sustain the management of the hall and returned the keys. The property was then used as a Covid Test Centre. The council is in the process of considering the options for the future of the hall including if there are any other operational uses the building could be put to. However, it is unlikely that the building will re-open as a bookable hall unless there is strong interest from another eligible community organisation to take over the facility, in which case a Community Asset Transfer could be considered.

See further information on community asset transfer and information on other hall facilities that are available for booking for parties.
