Aims and Objectives | The Local Plan strategic policies are council wide policies which seek to promote the continued growth and regeneration of South lanarkshire by seeking sustainable economic and social development within an improved urban and rural environment. STRAT 1 - identifies priority locations for regeneration, these reflect existing Government and Council priorities. STRAT 2 - identifies 5 community growth areas to satisfy strategic housing land requirements STRAT 3 -STRAT 6 - set out a settlement and area strategy STRAT 7 - identifies a strategic green network STRAT 8 - identifies development framework sites STRAT 9 - identifies environmental mitigation and enhancement requirements STRAT 10 - identifies requirements for developers contributions to infrastructure provision |
Conclusion | The conclusion of this initial impact assessment is that there are no adverse impacts on any part of the community covered by equalities legislation, or on community relations. This is due to the nature of the Local Plan Strategy policies which are designed to establish a land use planning framework to control the location of new developments, and seeks to enhance and protect communities and the environment. Detailed design requirements for new developments are addressed in other policies within the Local Plan. Consultation on all Local Plan policies is undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning legislation. |
