Fostering

Adoption and fostering header

Fostering provides a stable family life for children and young people, who can't live with their birth family. Some children stay in foster care for only a few days or weeks until their families are able to care for them again. Sometimes it isn't possible for them to return home and alternative plans are made either through permanent fostering or adoption.

Placing children and young people with a foster carer allows them the chance to develop nurturing, patient, kind, compassionate, trusting and respectful relationships so that they feel loved and safe.

We need foster carers who live in South Lanarkshire and surrounding areas to look after children of all ages who are from South Lanarkshire. We would especially welcome families who could support older children and children from family groups to ensure siblings can continue to live together.

Welcoming a child or young people into your home when they most need you can change their life and yours. If you feel you have the skills and qualities needed to be a foster carer, we look forward to hearing from you soon.
